Keiko Necesario’s Nomination for ‘Best Sync in TV Programme’ in the UK Music and Sound Award

https://news.abs-cbn.com/entertainment/07/04/19/keiko-necesarios-cover-featured-in-british-tv-drama

A year after her cover version feature in a British drama series Ackley Bridge, Keiko Necesario’s hauntingly beautiful cover of Joni Mitchell’s classic “Both Sides Now” was nominated in the UK Music and Sound Award 2020 for “Best Sync in TV Programme.” Her poetic rendition was nominated alongside songs from different international artists such as George Michael, The Osmonds, Grizzly Bear and a few more others.

Keiko caught attention in August 2016 when she first uploaded her cover of the song in Youtube. In a room with her acoustic guitar, Keiko beautifully captured the heart and essence of the classic song with her raw and soulful vocals. She was able to give the 50-year-old song justice and new life – without taking anything away from the original version and artist. Her moving vocals did not only appeal and touched the emotions of young audiences, but of older generations too, who grew up listening to the song.

Fast forward to 2019, Keiko’s rendition caught the attention of the production company behind the successful British drama series – describing her cover as a “familiar song but with a modern stripped-back feel.” The rest is now history, but rest assured that this is only the beginning for Keiko. Expect hearing more of her artistry and beautiful vocals soon.

Tomcat releases music video for ‘Busy Girl’

The wait is over – Tomcat finally released the music video for their song “Busy Girl.”

Tomcat’s new music video is set in an aesthetic and minimalistic room that opens with Leads Jaren Ladia and Asch Catabona’s videos in a working desktop. The music video takes them to different places inside the room: on the bed, in the shower, on the table, and even inside a freezer – all while being on the phone or online. The lyrics “just thinking about you” is constantly repeated throughout the song and is represented by portraying that the girl is always on their mind, even in mundane situations such as lying in bed and going for a shower. The video ends with the dropping of a video call and an image of a desktop screen.

“Busy Girl” is part of Tomcat’s debut EP Are We which was released earlier this year.

Sepia Times’ comeback single “Pills” released last month is featured on Jam 88.3 – and is on heavy rotation. The Cebu-based duo’s newest track takes its listeners in an uneasy yet familiar adventure with its psychedelic feel and playful transitions. The lyrics exploring life struggles, “monsters” – and the constant battle between bliss and melancholy is packed in an intoxicating synth-pop sound that will definitely make its listeners crave for more.

Caren Tevanny’s ‘Hiram’ on Mellow 94.7 heavy rotation

Caren Tevanny’s single “Hiram” released earlier this year is on Mellow 94.7’s daily playlist. According to the female-led rock band, “Hiram” is about things that are not permanent. Mixed with some twangy riffs, crisp guitars, and a powerful female rock singer, this heartbreaking song from Caren Tevanny is sure to be on anyone’s daily playlist, too.

Mellow 94.7 features the mellow side of pop-alternative and light-rock.

TIHTUS’ ‘Isang Ikaw’ featured on ‘Kung Paano Siya Nawala’ to stream on Netflix

TIHTUS’ 2019 single “Isang Ikaw” is featured on the film Kung Paano Siya Nawala that will hit Netflix this month. The film tells the story of Lio (JM de Guzman), a man who struggles in connecting with other people because of his face blindness, until he met the free-spirited Shana (Rhian Ramos).

“Isang Ikaw” fits perfectly in the film, with its romantic and poetic lyrics of adoration for that one-of-a-kind person, or in TIHTUS’ words “isang ikaw, natatangi at kakaiba.” The modern Filipino love song is matched with smooth vocals, punchy rhythms and a jazzy bassline that makes you nostalgic and gives you all the more reasons to watch the film.
